The core mission of Apereo is to assist and facilitate educational organizations which “collaborate to foster, develop, and sustain open technologies and innovation to support learning, teaching, and research."
The LAMP consortium, a community of eighteen colleges, have announced their membership of the Apereo Foundation, the leading non-profit entity supporting the development and adoption of open source software in education.
“Apereo and LAMP share a common objective of supporting and sustaining cost-effective innovation in higher education with open source software” said Ian Dolphin, Executive Director of the Apereo Foundation, “it makes profoundly good sense to work together where we can. LAMP has demonstrated the benefit of open source software for smaller institutions. That’s a model we believe we can expand”.

Pearson Open Sources Critical Education Technology in Support of Platform Sustainability and Enhancement
The Apereo Foundation, today announced the incubation of EQUELLA, an award-winning digital repository for housing teaching/learning, research, media, and library content in one platform. Pearson is contributing EQUELLA as open source software in support of sustainability for EQUELLA customers, while increasing collaboration to create platform enhancements.
“As an EQUELLA user, my institution can now manage and prioritize its investment to drive progress in development, customization, integration, support, and hosting resources in such a way as to help move our institution and the product forward,” said Mara Hancock, CIO, VP Technology, California College of the Arts.
This year, the award applicant selection process opens on January 16, 2018 and closes on February 26, 2018.
