August 24, 2026 — RESCHEDULED TIME: Join us on September 16 at 11:00 AM ET for an Apereo Microconference exploring Enact, an open source repository designed specifically for practice research. Funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and built by a cross-institutional team led by the University of Westminster, Enact uses the open source Hyku platform from the Samvera Community to capture not only research outputs, but also the processes, context, and contributors that give them meaning.

August 18, 2026 — Join the open source in education community at SCALE x24 April 2027. The CFP is open, and Apereo encourages our worldwide community to submit content for the Open Source in Higher Education co-located event.

August 12, 2026 — On October 7th, join Bridget Almas, Director of Operations for Community Supported Technologies at Lyrasis, as she shares the outcomes of a 2-year effort to analyze and strengthen the Lyrasis Organizational Home for Community Supported Technologies, preparing it for growth.

August 3, 2026 — Avalon 8.2 includes improved object management with a revamped permissions model: Units are now full objects with their own staff and user permissions, and permissions are now inherited instead of per-object, making it easy to add read-only access to large collections for specific users and groups. 8.2 also includes support for Audio Description files, forced captions, and the latest version of the Ramp media component library.
