June 1, 2026 — The Apereo Foundation annually holds elections for open positions on its Board of Directors. In the 2026 election cycle, two Organizational seats are up for election. Please review the candidate profiles here and prepare to have your Organizational Member Representative vote by June 19th, 2026.

May 31, 2026 — The Apereo Foundation is delighted to announce that Dr. Wilma Hodges has joined the Foundation staff in the newly created role of Apereo Community Coordinator. In her newest role at Apereo, Dr. Hodges will focus on strengthening relationships with Apereo’s Institutional Members and expanding the Foundation’s growing Community Membership program. She will also take a leading role in advancing the work of the Open Renaissance Group (ORG), building on the momentum generated by the Foundation’s “Open Letter to Higher Education” campaign and helping further conversations around openness, sustainability, and digital autonomy in higher education.

May 29, 2026 — Apereo Foundation has joined Open Source Initiative (OSI), FreeBSD Foundation, and Open Source Technology Improvement Fund, Inc (OSTIF) to issue the following statement on age attestation requirements for operating systems.
