Opencast Graduates from Incubation

Opencast  - a platform for lecture capture and academic media management - has graduated the Apereo incubation process. Opencast was founded in 2007 to develop and sustain software to produce, manage and distribute academic audio and video content, especially lecture recordings. It was the recipient of an Andrew Mellon Foundation grant, but has been self-sustaining since 2011.

The flexibility and scalability of Opencast is attracting significant attention - see elsewhere in this newsletter for a presentation on its use at the University of Manchester in the UK.
