Apereo Foundation Partners with SCaLE to Anchor the Open Source in Higher Education Event at SCaLE 23x
The Apereo Foundation is delighted to announce a new partnership with the 23rd Annual Southern California Linux Expo (SCaLE 23x), to be held March 5–8, 2026, at the Pasadena Convention Center in Pasadena, California, near Los Angeles. As part of this collaboration, Apereo will anchor the new “Open Source in Higher Education” event, highlighting innovative uses of open technologies, tools, and practices across the academic landscape.
Open Source in Higher Education — New for 2026!
The Open Source in Higher Education event, presented in partnership with the Apereo Foundation, will feature sessions dedicated to using, developing, and managing open resources within academic environments—from multi-institutional consortia to departmental projects.
Whether you’re a developer, system administrator, faculty member, or researcher, this track offers a platform to share how open source software and open educational resources are shaping your work—in the classroom, on campus, or in the lab. Join peers exploring the open tools, practices, and communities driving the future of higher education.

We invite educators, technologists, project leads, and open source advocates to submit proposals highlighting their experiences, case studies, or innovations in higher education.
