Apereo Community Invited to Nominate Candidates for 2026 Board Election
Updated May 19th.
The Apereo Foundation is now accepting nominations for its 2026 Board of Directors election cycle. This year, two (2) seats are open for election. Both of these seats will remain, Organizational Seats as dictated by the Apereo By-Laws. Previous messaging about a change to the categorization of these seats for 2026 should be disregarded.
That means only Organizational Members in good standing will vote on the newly elected members of the board. No Individual seats are up for election in the 2026 election cycle.
The elected Directors will serve a three-year term beginning July 1, 2026.
Apereo especially encourages Friends of Apereo to consider nominating leaders, collaborators, advocates, and community builders who care deeply about open source in higher education and about the Foundation's future.
Self-nominations are permitted and encouraged.
Thank You to Inge Donkervoort
As nominations open, Apereo extends heartfelt thanks to Inge Donkervoort as she completes her second term on the Apereo Board of Directors. Inge has been a thoughtful and generous leader within the community, contributing years of service, perspective, and support to the Foundation and its mission.
As she has reached the term limit established in the bylaws, Inge is not eligible for re-election this cycle. The Apereo community is deeply grateful for her dedication and service.
Thank you to Wilma Hodges
Wilma has stepped down from the Board to fill a much-needed role within the Apereo Staff. More information is forthcoming about this new staff member and her role.
Eligibility Criteria
Nominees must be at least 18 years of age. Directors are not required to be U.S. citizens or residents of New Jersey, and employment by a member organization is not required.
Individual Member Representatives may be nominated by anyone in the community, but voting for this seat is limited to Individual Members in good standing. Directors may serve up to two consecutive terms.
How to Nominate
Nominations should be sent to Patrick Masson, Executive Director, at ed@apereo.org.
Please include the nominee’s name, contact information, and a brief statement outlining their qualifications and interest in serving on the Board.
Apereo strongly encourages nominators to speak with prospective nominees before submitting their names to ensure they are willing and able to serve if elected.
