An open source software, Karuta is a flexible tool for the incremental prototyping and the diffusion on the web of digital portfolios or eportfolios for various purposes (showcase portfolio, learning portfolio,
assessment portfolio).
Simple
The T&L designer can quickly build a portfolio template by creating pages and adding different resources (text, documents, comments, etc.) assigned to various roles (student, evaluator, etc.).
Flexible
Karuta has no a priori structure. The T&L designer has full control and can build sophisticated portfolios and workflows. No developers are required.
Iterative
Karuta is built for quick iterations. Design a portfolio, test it in faculty meetings, make changes, run a small pilot.
Powerful
Karuta has advanced features like proxies, parts (for creating user menus), and peer evaluation. A script language is available for batch creation. New features will be available soon like reporting, LEAP2A exporting, HTML publishing, resume, etc.
Complete
Karuta can be used for learning portfolios, assessment portfolios, accreditation, and presentation portfolios (coming soon).
