Dr. Wilma Hodges serves as Community Coordinator for the Apereo Foundation, where she focuses on strengthening relationships across Apereo’s global community, deepening engagement with institutional and community members, supporting new Communities of Interest, mentoring student organizations, and advancing collaborative initiatives that support open source in higher education.
Wilma brings more than 20 years of experience in faculty training, learning management systems, instructional design, online course development, technical writing, and user experience design. She is the founder of Red Willow Solutions and has played a leadership role within the Sakai community since 2009, serving as Sakai Community Manager and chairing numerous working groups focused on teaching and learning, user experience, documentation, and community events.
A longtime leader within Apereo, Wilma previously served on the Apereo Board of Directors and was recognized as an Apereo Fellow in 2016 for her contributions to the community. She also helped co-found an emerging Apereo incubation project focused on collaborative development of reusable learning tools for higher education. Wilma holds a master’s degree in Technical Writing from the University of Central Florida, an Ed.D. in Instructional Technology and Distance Education from Nova Southeastern University, and a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification from the Project Management Institute.
