Opencast 9 Feature Freeze

Originally planned to be released on June 15th, Opencast 9 was unfortunately delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This prolonged incubation time alone makes Opencast 9 one of the bigger releases we have had. In addition to big new user-facing features, like a new default video player, revamped LTI tools, and bulk metadata editing capabilities, there are many smaller changes in the background: Things like higher flexibility and robustness in the automated video processing and the subsequent access and management of the results by internal and external applications alike, integration with more automatic subscript generation providers, and modernization of dependencies for an improved compatibility with present-day deployment environments all work together to let this release form a solid foundation for this new era of video-based education.

Opencast 9 is due to be released on December 15th, 2020.
